The lodge is a three-story log home built by Jon as a "hobby" during the last 30 years while employed in the industrial construction field. He cut the logs and constructed the home without blueprints, and so far the resort is at 9,000 square feet.
In 1996 they decided to make their home a haven for travelers and guests. Interior details are an eclectic blend of furnishings and collectibles featuring local arts and crafts from many of the talented artists in the area.
Jon and Nancy Cummings, lodge owners, both grew up in Salmon. Nancy lived on the island of St.Croix in the U.S. Virgin Islands for 15 years. While there, she became interested in dessert making and baked for many of the island's restaurants. Through the years Nancy also worked in fine dining at the island's top establishments. This knowledge helped to launch the fine dining for 100 Acre Wood. Many chefs from the islands have come to work here.
Jon grew up in the resort business. His parents were some of the first hunting and rafting outfitters dating back to1948 when river rafting was making a transition from transportation to recreation. Jon left the North Fork area to work in the industrial piping trade and entertainment. He returned home in 1996 to carry on the family traditions and opened the 100 Acre Wood Lodge with his wife Nancy.
The Great Room is the place to be, whether sharing life's adventures in front of the crackling fireplace, reading a great novel, or simply gazing out at the abundant wildlife and picturesque mountains. Our mountains are a year-round grazing range for deer and elk. The view from the dining room takes in the trout pond, aspen covered wood, and a variety of colorful birds cavorting at the feeders.
Enjoy an evening meal in our gourmet restaurant. The tantalizing aromas will tickle your taste buds. Our in-house chef prepares unique menus from the freshest of available ingredients. Everything is prepared to order. Beer and wine are available. Our restaurant books many special events - birthdays, weddings, luncheons,corporate meetings, etc. Bring your friends and family to a "one of a kind" eating experience.
